Style Spotlight: The Duchess of Cambridge [Part 2]

Happy Thursday!

I was supposed to do a Part 2 of my Style Spotlight post on the Duchess of Cambridge back in April, but I wasn't able to because I got really busy with school, so that plan was a no-go... but now, we can take a look back at the Duchess' maternity style because the Royal Baby has arrived!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed HRH Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge into the world on Tuesday... and here are some of the outfits the Duchess wore while pregnant with the new little prince:

The first outfit Duchess Catherine wore after her pregnancy was announced was this cute scarf-coat-boots combo -- I really like it!
I also love how she wore her hair half-up/half-down... and the gorgeous yellow flowers were a nice touch!

I'm not really too crazy about a lot of these ensembles, but I really loved her green Alexander McQueen gown, the white collared coat she wore for an official engagement, and the green Emilia Wickstead coat she wore for St. Patrick's Day.

I loved loved loved Duchess Catherine's yellow Emilia Wickstead coat!
Her peach/coral-colored outfit was also really lovely. And she looked amazing in her Jenny Packham ensemble for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Queen's coronation -- the whole look is just perfection!

I'm not too keen on the outfit she wore to the Harry Potter Studios, but the Duchess seemed to love it so much, she wore it twice! ;)

These are the last two outfits she wore on her official outings, and they were classic Kate. :)

Here are also some of the Duchess' casual outfits:

I want her Zara poncho!
And look, the Duchess wore sneakers!!! :D

I also think it's really cool that she seems to have a favorite "bag-of-the-moment" -- she was photographed with her gray Tod's bag three times!
(By the way, from a far, this bag looks a little bit like my Twisted Orchid bag, haha!)

And lastly, the big reveal:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their newborn son, Prince George of Cambridge

I think it'd be nice to end this post with the Duchess' first official outfit as a Mom Mum!
I love love love this blue Jenny Packham dress -- it's perfect!
And I love how they are both wearing blue = blue for baby boy!

I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of Duchess Catherine's ensembles... and of course, Prince George's wee outfits! :)

What do you guys think of the Duchess of Cambridge's maternity style?
Which of these outfits are on your favorites list?

I hope you're all having a lovely week -- the weekend is almost here! ;)

Bag Holding And What It Says About You

Happy Weekend!

Do you guys have favorite websites to visit whenever you're surfing the internet?
One of my absolute favorite websites has got to be www.refinery29.com -- they have THE most interesting articles, I always look forward to receiving their emails. :)

They published an article way back in January about bag holding techniques and what they mean, and I just wanted to share it with you guys, it'll be a fun read! :)

What Your Bag-Holding Technique Says About You
(Read the Refinery 29 article here.)

1. THE SCHLEPPER - You've got two, three, four... five bags to worry about, so you've got a "wherever fits" strategy going on. "You're fatigued, exhausted, and in a rush -- the bags suggest you're a little spaced-out and have a hard time being present."

Lauren Conrad

Lauren does look fatigued, exhausted, and in a rush!

2. THE ARM-CROOK HOOK - Favorites of paparazzi-chased celebs, this limp-handed style just screams power.
"You're wearing the bag as if it's a badge of honor or an award. You feel as if you've got a sense of superiority."

Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is definitely always chased by paparazzi...

3. THE HANDS-FREE - "The girl who wears a hands-free bag willingly covers up her silhouette and outfit.
It's useful, but it also shows you're slightly dorky... see this a lot with young women."

Jessica Alba

I don't know if Jessica Alba is slightly dorky in real life, but hey, she's a gorgeous mama!

4. THE TWOFER - Usually done with a coy smile and a leg cross, the two-handed twofer clutch denotes a shy, defensive person. "This creates a fig leaf position as if you were protecting your goods. If you find yourself doing this on a date, it's because you feel weird about where it's going."

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge

This is the Duchess of Cambridge's go-to bag holding technique!

5. THE BAGUETTE - A recent favorite of street style stars, the baguette style is a scoop-up, on-the-go method.
"It's a utilitarian look, and you don't really care about the bag but rather what's in it. You're goal-oriented."

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston is definitely a street style star!

6. THE THIRD ARM DRAPE - This move usually involves a bag with a long strap... but instead of crossing it over, you choose to wear it over your shoulder. And since that baby's prone to slipping around, Patti says it shows a lack of awareness. "It says, 'I don't have power over my world'."

Hilary Duff

I think Hilary looks great balancing her bag and her adorable baby boy, Luca!

7. THE ARMPIT VICE - Clutches are hard to hold, we know, but this move keeps your bag in place while leaving your hands free. "There's an awkwardness about it, and I see it happen a lot with women who are carrying a purse that doesn't fit her body."

Jennifer Lopez

Yeah, it does seem like Jennifer Lopez is having a hard time with that clutch...

8. THE BRIEFCASE - There's a certain type of woman who chooses to forgo the shoulder strap for the top handle. "She's in business mode. She's going fast and her bag has a lot of weight -- she cares less about her appearance, and more about where she's off to."

Angelina Jolie

I think that pretty much describes Angelina Jolie... except she doesn't really have to care a lot about her appearance -- she's gorgeous and she knows it!

9. THE THUMB-TO-'PIT - There's a reason this move's associated with Carrie from Sex and the City. "I see women in cosmopolitan cities doing this. They remember their mamas telling them to protect their bags... they don't want to get them pulled off while they're walking! They're street-smart."

Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada

Andy definitely became street-smart as the movie progressed!

10. THE "I'VE GOT A BAG BITCH" - You've got better things to do than to hold a bag. For some, that's what assistants and boyfriends are for. "When people feel the need to look fabulous all the time, they can't be encumbered with anything."

Beyoncé

Who else would have a bag bitch other than Beyoncé?!
Look, there's literally someone behind her carrying her bag!

Some descriptions may be spot-on and some are not, but it's so interesting, right?!

My bag-holding techniques are #s 2, 3, 6, and 9... depending on the bag.

What about you -- What's your bag holding technique?
Do these descriptions describe you or someone you know?

I hope you are all having a great start to summer! :D

Red Carpet Recap: 2013 Academy Awards

Happy Monday/ Tuesday!

I just finished doing my homework, but before I call it a night, I shall breeze through my red carpet recap of the biggest night in Hollywood: the 85th Academy Awards! :D

Let's start? ;)

Anne Hathaway -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Anne Hathaway

The Best Supporting Actress winner looked absolutely gorgeous in her light pink duchesse satin backless column gown by Prada and her Tiffany & Co. jewels -- that necklace is what you call a wow necklace, haha! ;)

This whole ensemble is just absolute perfection, right down to the smallest detail!
I'm so happy Anne won! :D

Jennifer Garner -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

I have nothing but good words for this woman...
Jennifer Garner looked flawless in her custom Gucci gown and Neil Lane jewels -- so beautiful!
And how awesome was Ben's speech?!

Amy Adams -

85th Annual Academy Awards - People Magazine Arrivals

Amy Adams always looks picture perfect! She looks good in everything! ;)
Her Oscar de la Renta gown is so breathtaking!

I hope Amy gets her turn to win an Oscar soon!

Salma Hayek -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek looks like a goddess in her velvet Alexander McQueen gown!
The gold embellished collar adds the perfect detail to the dress. :)

Amanda Seyfried -

85th Annual Academy Awards - People Magazine Arrivals: Amanda Seyfried

Amanda looked so so so pretty in her Alexander McQueen gown -- sweet and subtle!

Sally Field -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Sally Field

Sally Field is a classic beauty, so timeless!
This embroidered tulle illusion gown from Valentino's SS13 Haute Couture collection is so beautiful on her! :)

Adele -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Adele

Halfway to an EGOT!!! :D
So happy for my favorite singer of all time -- she is now an Oscar winner, wow! :D

And not gonna lie, after the whole Grammys floral ensemble, I am happy to see her back in her signature black dress -- this Jenny Packham creation is pure Adele!

Jennifer Lawrence -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Jennifer Lawrence

This girl is now officially my idol -- a Best Actress Oscar at the age of 22?! WOW!

I am quite unsure about this Dior Haute Couture dress, but I do love the diamond detail going around her neck. And I am loving her Chopard earrings!!!

With her big win and her graceful rise from falling on the stage steps, does it really matter what Jennifer Lawrence is wearing? ;)

Naomi Watts -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Naomi Watts

I think she looks really beautiful, but I am kind of iffy about the cutout of this Armani Privé gown...

Jennifer Aniston -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals: Jennifer Aniston

I don't think this Valentino dress is the right gown for Jennifer Aniston -- I think it looks frumpy on her.
And the hair... c'mon Jen, it's the Oscars! :/

Kristen Stewart -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

This strapless gown by Reem Acra, the hair, the makeup -- just not working out for me. :/
Why does it look like she didn't even shower for the Oscars???

But, gotta give her kudos for still being there despite being injured! :)

Brandi Glanville -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

One word: Ew!
Seriously?!

I also just wanted to include a picture of the cutest expectant parents: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum -

85th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Awwwwwww! :D

There we have it, my quick recap of the 2013 Academy Awards red carpet!
I know I missed other red carpet ensembles from other celebrities, so tell me...

Whose look did you like the best? Whose look did you not like at all?
What did you think of this year's Academy Awards show?

I hope you are all having a great start to the week!

Red Carpet Recap: 2013 Grammy Awards

Happy Monday!

Just squeezing in a quick post before I go do my homework... ;)

So, last night was music's biggest night: Grammy Awards.
Let's talk about the red carpet? :D

Rihanna -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

I am very, very impressed with Rihanna's red carpet look -- she looked ravishing in this custom red Azzedine Alaia dress!
And I am loving the hair!

Faith Hill -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

She is so beautiful!
Faith Hill looked timeless in her knee-length J.Mendel dress -- I love the sheer detail!

Beyoncé -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

It may seem a little too casual, especially compared to what the other stars wore, but I actually like Beyoncé's Osman Studio jumpsuit, I think it's sleek and classic.

Carrie Underwood -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

I am not really a big fan of Carrie Underwood's black Roberto Cavalli gown, but I am loving her jewelry!
Her Johnathon Arndt necklace is worth $31 million and features 381-carat diamonds! Wow!

Jennifer Lopez -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

Jennifer Lopez is a gorgeous woman, but I think the slit on her Anthony Vaccarello gown is just way too high!
I don't know why, but I don't think anyone can do the "one-leg-sticking-out" thing as well as Angelina Jolie did...

Adele -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

I love love love Adele, but I am not a fan of this red floral Valentino frock. :/
I am so happy she won another Grammy, though! ;)

Lisa D'Amato -

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

Worst Dressed, hands down!

Can I also just quickly point out how handsome Justin Timberlake was last night???!!!

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards …

I've always had a huge crush on this guy -- even when he sported blonde curly locks and head-to-toe denim, haha! ;)

There we have it, just a quick and short recap of the 2013 Grammy Awards red carpet...

Whose look did you like the best? Whose look did you not like at all?
Who's excited for the Academy Awards? (I am!)

I hope you are all having a great start to the week!

Red Carpet Recap: 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Happy Monday!

I love Awards Season because it gives me something to look forward to on Sundays (and it also makes me forget that it's almost time to go back to school, haha!). ;)

Anyway, let's start talking about what the stars wore to yesterday's awards show:

Jessica Chastain -

Jessica Chastain

I don't usually go crazy over what Jessica Chastain wears on the red carpet, but I really loved this red Alexander McQueen gown -- it really fits her perfectly and it looks amazing on her!

I also love how she kept things simple by choosing to just sport a gorgeous Harry Winston splash diamond necklace -- it's set in platinum and it's just beautiful! :)

Jennifer Garner -

Jennifer Garner

Her gold Oscar de la Renta gown looks so luxurious and so opulent!
I love Jennifer Garner! :D

Amanda Seyfried -

Amanda Seyfried

I love love love the bottom part and the train of Amanda's Zac Posen dress -- it's so fun and so beautiful!
At first, I wasn't sure about her Lorraine Schwartz necklace, but somehow it totally works. :)

Nina Dobrev -

Nina Dobrev

Same as with Jessica Chastain, I'm not usually a fan of Nina Dobrev's red carpet choices, but I really loved this pink short-sleeve crepe gown with lace cutout detail -- you know why?! It's Elie Saab, that's why! ;)

Anne Hathaway -

Anne Hathaway

I love Anne and I am totally keeping my fingers crossed for her -- I hope she wins an Oscar!
However, I am not sure if this Giambattista Valli Couture dress is a winner for me... yeah, no, it's not working for me. :/

But hey, I like her custom vegan Jimmy Choo shoes, Kwiat jewels, and Eddie Parker clutch. ;)

Jennifer Lawrence -

Jennifer Lawrence

This whole dress fiasco is just so confusing... why aren't the two parts of her Dior Haute Couture dress sewn well together?
It feels like the design of this gown wasn't that well thought-out.

However, her Chopard jewelry is definitely beautiful.
And kudos to the Best Actress winner -- she still walked the red carpet despite being sick with walking pneumonia!

Kerry Washington -

Kerry Washington

I am just not feeling the look of this Rodarte dress... and her hair wasn't the best either. :/

Freida Pinto -

Freida Pinto and Dev Pate …

This look is just all wrong!!!
Her Roland Mouret gown is ill-fitting, not flattering at all. Her hair and makeup -- not up to par. :/

There we have it, that's the end of my 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet recap!
Because I wanted to keep this short, there are a ton of looks not included on this post, so tell me...

Whose look did you like the best? Whose look did you not like at all?
What do you think of these ladies' red carpet ensembles?

I hope you are all having a great start to the week!
