Travel Destination: Greece

Happy Monday!

Since the week has just started, I thought it'd be nice for us to take a little trip. It's been a while since my last Travel Destination post, and I remember Carrie from http://www.readmylifeascarrie.blogspot.com/ requesting that we go to Greece next.

So, let's go! :D

***photos are in no particular order***

Athens at night

Parthenon, Acropolis Hill, and some houses of Anafiotika - seen from Lykavittos Hill

Agios Minos Cathedral

Cape Sounio - located at the eastern part of the country.

The Temple of Poseidon is located in Cape Sounio.

Greek Orthodox chapel and an approaching ferry - island of Santorini

Church of Agia Fotini

interior of the Chapel of Agia Fotini - combines Byzantine and Hellenistic elements

Boat cruising through Corinth Canal

south coast of Crete

How beautiful is this photo?!

Delphi

Temple of Apollo in Delphi

ferry ride

The water is soooooo beautiful!

We can swim and sunbathe near Hera's Temple.

House of Cleopatra

While on vacation, we can still update our blogs because they have internet cafes! :)

sunbathing on Kathisma Beach

Matala Beach

The man-made caves date back to prehistoric times.

Take a therapeutic dip on Moustos Lake.

town and harbor of the island of Mykonos

The island fortress of Bourtzi, Nafplio harbor -- seen from Palamidi fortress.

Are you into hiking?

descending trail on Mt. Olympus

western face of Mytikas on Mt. Olympus

If you're like me, then hiking is probably not your thing. No worries, there are a lot of other things we can do... like watch musical and theatrical performances at the open-air theater on Lykavittos Hill.

We can also swim and walk along the shores of Pebble Beach at Kokkari.

The Parthenon at sunset

I love these cute little umbrellas on Perissa Beach on the east coast of Santorini. (P.S. That's black sand!)

Piraeus - the main port of Athens

Potami Beach

Perhaps, one of the most well-known of the Greek islands: Santorini.

white-washed houses and blue domes

Southern Aegean village of Oia

Santorini sunset

I would love to eat at this waterfront restaurant!

A traditional Greek tavern.

Taverns are an integral part of Greek culture and cuisine.

This then brings us to an important aspect of our little trip to Greece: Greek food! :D

olives

Greek salad choriatiki

Fasolada - soup made of beans, tomatoes, carrots, celery, and olive oil

Moussaka - an oven-baked layer dish.

It is usually a ground meat and eggplant casserole, topped with bechamel sauce, then browned.

Pikilia platter

Pitas with Gyros

Gyros - meat roasted on a vertically turning spit and served with sauce and garnishes on a pita bread

Taramosalata - fish roe mixed with boiled potatoes or moistened breadcrumbs, olive oil, and lemon juice

Ready for dessert?

Kourabiedes - Christmas cookies

Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts

And of course, baklava! Yum! :D

Well, that's about it for our trip to Greece. :)

Have you been to Greece? What else should we do when we go there? What other places should we visit?

If you have a place in mind for our next virtual trip, let me know!

Have a great week, everyone! :D

Designer Spotlight: Reem Acra

Yay for Friday! :D

There are so many topics I want to incorporate into my blog posts, but so little time to actually make those posts. I actually have a list of blog topics on my phone, but then I forgot about that so I made another list on a piece of paper, and then I lost that paper. Haha. Anyways, long story short, I realized it's been months since I last made a Designer Spotlight post. So for today, let's look at Reem Acra's creations. :)

Reem Acra's designs epitomize global glamour - her regal designs are developed with a modern aesthetic.
She entered the world of fashion in 1997 with her first bridal collection.
Let's take a peek at the wedding dresses from her recent and current collections.

I love the skirt of this dress!

A sweetheart neckline is my favorite. :)

This is definitely something I would wear.

So simple and beautiful!

I love the crystal-encrusted shrug.

This looks perfect for a beach wedding, or maybe if you want to change into another dress for your reception. :)

Interesting detail on the skirt. :)

If you want a little color on your wedding dress...
Then, in 2004, she debuted a ready-to-wear collection, featuring meticulously constructed designs ranging from understated chic to the ornate. Her designs are marked by rich color, lush fabrics, flawless construction, and playful patterns.

This royal blue is a breathtakingly gorgeous color. I love it!

This dress is so simple and elegant.

Green: another beautiful color!

This reminds me of one of the dresses Anne Hathaway wore for the Oscars.

Some of her celebrity clients include Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Beyonce, Catherine Zeta-Jones,

Olivia Wilde, Rumer Willis, Eva Longoria,

Emma Roberts, and

Leighton Meester.

What do you think of Reem Acra's creations? Which dresses did you like?

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday! :D

Have you guys seen this video of an adorable 8-month old laughing hysterically as his Dad rips apart a job rejection letter?

Isn't he the cutest thing ever?
Babies have the best laugh! :D

Woah, it's March?! :O

Happy 1st day of March!!! :D

I always say this, but I will say it again: it's crazy how time flies!!! :O

Okay, now that I've said that, there are quite a few things I love about and am looking forward to this month:

1. What Mimi Writes turns one on the 10th!

2. The Secret Life of the American Teenager comes back on the 28th!

Fellow Secret Life fans, how cute is this photo???

Back when I was in high school, there are two things about March that we always look forward to:

3. March Madness Dodgeball Tournament

Yup, every year, we have a Dodgeball Tournament that lasts for the whole month of March. :D

4. And, St. Patty's Day barbecue

We all dress up in green and celebrate with a barbecue (and extended lunch!).

Sigghhhhhh, I miss high school. :/

5. Anyways, another thing I know everyone is looking forward to is Spring!

6. And with Spring, comes Spring Break!
Spring Break for me this year is not until April, but it's March, thus we are this much closer to it...

"Spring Break, woooooo!"

Just kidding, my spring breaks do not look like that. They're more like this:

:D

What are you looking forward to this March?
