Prim and proper beauty picks! :)

Another week ahead of us! April is going by fast! :O

One more week of papers and midterms, and it's Spring Break! Yay!

Spring Break = time to blog, read for fun, catch up on TV shows, and not do anything school-related... oh, okay, fine, I have an exam and a paper due after my break, but that's okay, haha. ;)

Anyway, enough about that... for today, let's talk beauty!

With prom and wedding season coming up (and throw in some graduation ceremonies here and there), it's time for us to emphasize and highlight our prim and proper selves.

And so, here are ten "prim and proper" beauty picks:

Photobucket

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren ($8, Walgreens)

I really like Revlon's lipsticks - they're smooth and creamy. And the colors are fantastic! There are 72 shades to choose from! And for $8, as Charlie Sheen would say, winning! ;)

2. OPI Nail Lacquer in Isn't That Precious? ($9, Dillard's or Sephora)

I think this nail polish color is perfect for prom or for the many weddings you may be invited to in these coming months. If you don't have time to get a mani and pedi, or if you want to save some bucks, set aside some time to pamper yourself at home - paint your own nails! You can't go wrong with this subtle and pretty shade. :)

3. Paul and Joe Nail Enamel in Poodle ($14)

If like me, you're wondering what the difference is between this and the OPI nail polish, then I've got some answers for you. :)

Lacquers, enamels, and nail polish are all basically the same thing - they just differ in formulation (drying accelerating solvents, thickness, etc.), but you will end up getting almost the same result. Enamels are generally expected to give a smooth or glossy appearance (maybe that's why it's more expensive by $5?).

4. Lulu Beauty Solid Perfume in Starlet ($30)

I've heard a lot of good things about solid perfumes, but I've never really tried them myself. I love how pretty the box is and all, but I don't know if I am willing to spend $30 on this. Are you?

5. Too Faced Brightening Blush in La Vie en Rose ($20, Sephora)

Whenever I go to Sephora, I always check out the Too Faced section, but I've never bought anything from that particular brand. What do you guys think of Too Faced makeup products?

6. Lancome Tresor in Love Eau de Parfum ($55, Macy's)

My perfume is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. What's yours?

7. MOR Perfume Oil in Belladonna ($20)

Do any of you know what this smells like?
I think for $20, it's a good buy, and if you guys think it smells great, I would love to try it. :)

8. Victoria's Secret Bombshell Luminous Body Powder ($25, Victoria's Secret)

How cute is that?!
I've never tried this, but I would love to. :)

9. Benefit Girl Meets Pearl Illuminator in Golden Pink ($30)

My sister uses Benefit products, and she loves them!

10. Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder ($7, Rite Aid)

At just $7, I think it's definitely worth the try! :)

Have you tried any of these ten products? Thoughts?
Which of these should we try? Which ones do you want to try?

Have a fantastic week! :D

Movie trailers + HP deleted scenes + Tag + Links

TGIF! :D

Yay for the weekend! Any fun plans?

I just watched some new movie trailers, and I just wanted to share with you guys the movies I really want to see. :)

1. Water for Elephants - It looks amazing! I started reading the book, but sadly, I have yet to finish it, I only got to about one-fourth. I hope I can find the time to finish reading it before the movie comes out.

2. The Hangover: Part 2 - Yes, it's the same old story, but I can't wait! And, how amazing is it that we get to see Thailand?! :D

3. Scream 4 - Aaaahhhh, I never thought this day would come! I grew up watching the first three Scream movies (and other movies that came out at around the same time - Idle Hands, anyone?) with my sister - I definitely want to see this! :)

4. Monte Carlo - I am not a Selena Gomez fan, but I really do want to see this because it seems like a fun movie to watch, either with my sisters or with my friends. Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy are hilarious! And the movie takes place in Paris and Monte Carlo - beautiful! :D

5. Arthur - This one actually comes out today... I couldn't stop laughing all throughout the trailer! I read on People that it's just not the same as the original one, but based on the trailer, I think it's worth the watch if you're just looking for a fun movie that will make you laugh.

There are a lot more other movies I want to see... maybe a different post?
Which of these movies do you want to see?

I was trying to see if they have a new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, but they don't... BUT, I did find deleted scenes from Part 1. :D

I wish they found a way to squeeze these scenes into the movie. :/

But it's okay, it's fun just watching them. :)

I was also tagged by Dizzy to answer some questions about lipstick:

1) When you were a child, did you use your mother's lipsticks?
- Yes, I did! And not just my mom's... I also used my older sister's lipsticks. I don't know if I ever told her about this, but whenever she was out, I would volunteer to clean up around her room so I can spend the whole day there, watching on her TV... and using her lipsticks! Hahaha! Now, I'm busted... ;)

2) How old were you when you bought your first lipstick?
-  I've had lipsticks since I was like 11 years old, but I never really used them and they were given to me by my grandma, my mom, and my sister. Believe it or not, I just bought my very own lipstick about six months ago. So, the answer is 20 years old. ;)

3) Pink or red lipstick?
- Hmmmm, I love pink lip gloss for everyday, but I really do love my red lipstick. Can I pick both? :)

4) The most expensive lipstick you have ever bought?
- Oh, not that expensive... I think it was $9?

5) And the cheapest?
- $1.29! :D

6) What's the most bizarre thing you have ever done with a lipstick?
- When I was a high school senior, we used red lipstick to write 2009 on our faces. Probably not that bizarre, but those were definitely fun times!

7) If you had to recommend a lipstick, which brand would you recommend and why?
- I haven't really used a lot of lipsticks to actually know which brands are good to recommend. I guess for starters, NYC is a great brand - very affordable and tons of colors to choose from. Revlon is also really good. :D

I tag anyone who wants to participate! :D

I also reviewed two Almay products this past week, click the links below to see them. :D

I wish you all a peaceful and restful weekend! :)

Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer Review

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Right now, I am using the new editor, and I am loving it... why did I wait this long?!

Two days ago, I shared with you guys my thoughts on Almay's hydrating makeup. For today, I will be reviewing my

Almay Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer

almay_06large/img_12854.jpg

This breakthrough concealer matches your skin tone and fights signs of aging.

4 out of 5 women saw an instant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This lightweight formula moisturizes and smooths skin around the delicate eye area. Medium coverage helps to conceal minor imperfections and dark circles under eyes. SPF 20 protects.
***from www.almay.com***

I cannot really say for sure that it reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, but I can tell you that it definitely makes the eye area smoother.

It works like any other concealer, but what I love about this is its consistency. It blends in well, and covers blemishes and dark spots well too.

I suggest really checking to see which shade matches your skin color because I was in a hurry so I just grabbed the concealer that was there (big mistake!). I got it in light, and it's just too light for my skin tone, especially in the eye area. So now what I do is put a little bit of it on top of my MAC concealer, and it works out okay. For the rest of my face though, this concealer by itself is fine.

I just wish there were more shades available. They only have three:

Light

Light Medium

Medium

Besides just having only three shades, I don't have any other complains. It's around $7, so if it doesn't work out for you or you end up not liking it, it really won't hurt your budget too much.

Have you tried using this concealer? Is it something you might want to try?

:D

Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup Review

Happy Tuesday! :)

So, yesterday I said that I will be reviewing one of my Almay products today, and I chose to start with

Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup

Almay has taken mineral foundation to the next level using an innovative process that infuses encapsulated water in a luxurious loose powder. The result is instantly glowing, hydrated skin with an amazing cooling sensation.

Professional makeup artist inspired foundation brush fits perfectly in the cap for easy storage and mess-free travel.

(Their website is awesome - sooo organized!)

First thing I'm going to say: I love it!

Everything said above are all true (maybe except the brush... we'll get to that later).

This is an amazing product! Normally, I am happy with the products I use, but I don't think I ever really rave about a lot of them. So, this is a rave. ;)

I love how you can really feel the water in the powder - the first time I used it, I had to check to make sure my face wasn't wet, haha! It's cooling - perfect for warm summer days. And it has SPF 13!

It gives my face a smooth finish. When I first started using this, I had little dark bumps on my face - they were covered - not totally, but they were covered.

It's very light, not heavy on my face at all. Not greasy. Basically, everything said above.

Now, the brush...

I actually really do like the shape and quality of the brush itself. The only part I had a problem with was the lock when you slide it up. A couple of times while applying the powder onto my face, the brush would slide back down. Maybe it was just the brush I got, or maybe not. If you use this, have you encountered that problem?

Price... At Target, it's $11.79. At Ulta, it's $12.99.

I'm not sure what the regular prices are for this kind of powder, but I think those are pretty reasonable. What do you think?

Have you used this? What do you think of it? How did it work for you?

Is it something you would want to try?

***I might be getting the Revlon ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup, which is the same as this, so I will be doing a comparison between the two in the future.*** :D

Have a great rest of the week! :)

Spring Preview Fashion Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday! :D

I initially planned to do this post when Spring started, but I was sick and got busy, and you know the rest... ;)

Spring means a whole different wardrobe from Winter. I need to start taking out my Spring clothes sometime soon. Have you started taking out and adding onto your Spring wardrobe?

If you already did or still have to do so, here are 6 Spring trends to try, and 1 tricky trend to think about:

Photobucket

1. Classic YSL - emphatic color, elegantly cut jackets, and full shapes

Bright Colors

I loooooooove bright colors! During the Winter, I do tend to dress more in neutral colors, but I always make sure to add a pop of color - like a bright colored scarf, shoes, beret, or bag. :D

2. Trousers - the high-waisted pants

Trousers

These look fantastic! I love the look of high-waisted pants. I'm not too sure if I can pull it off, though.

Do you guys have tips for petite girls who want to wear these? Would using high heels do the trick?

3. Wedges - strappy, sporty, colorful, etc.

Wedges

When I was younger, I had such a hard time wearing wedges. But now that I try to use pumps and high heels more, I appreciate wedges. They give me height, while still being comfortable.

I think these would look great paired with shorts - they would really elongate your legs. :)

Photobucket

4. Fringe - ivory-tasseled jackets, suede-trimmed shawls, fringed vests, pants, and gowns

Fringe

This is one trend I've never tried. I think it's time I get some fringed items for my closet. :)

5. Exotic Florals - dresses, shorts, skirts, shoes...

Florals

I loooooove florals! I have quite a few floral dresses in my closet, so that's good. :)

I want some floral skirts and shoes, though.

6. Long and Loose - relaxed silhouettes

Long and Loose Dresses

Another look I love, but not sure if my petite frame can pull off.

Any tips?

Tricky trend: Studded Biker Jackets

Studded Biker Jackets

I don't have one because I don't think it goes with my personality. But when worn with the right pieces, I think it would look good. Do you have a studded biker jacket?

What do you think of this season's trends? Are you already sporting any of them?

I hope all of you are having a fantastic weekend! :D

One last post before deleting my blog...

Just kidding, just kidding!

Happy April Fools Day!

I know it's almost April 2nd, but I just had to try that one out.

My best friend said she was getting a tattoo, and I was like, "Whaaaat?! No waaaaaayyyy!".

My other friend told her Mom and sisters that her boyfriend proposed and she said yes -- oh boy, did they go crazy!

Did you guys get fooled/pranked today? Did you prank anyone? :D
