The Lucky Guide to SPRING SHOES!

Happy Thursday!

We're continuing our celebration of Spring's arrival... next thing on our list: SPRING SHOES!!!

While I absolutely love my boots, I've been waiting patiently to wear my sandals again. ;)
Here is Lucky magazine's guide to Spring shoes:

Photobucket

From towering rainbow platforms to sprightly little flats, every pair here has us daydreaming about those first warm days.

1. COLORFUL WEDGES - So playful, they're the feel-good shoes of the season.

Photobucket

2. LOW-HEELED SANDALS - Totally dressy, but you could still run for the bus in these.

Photobucket

3. CAP-TOE BALLET FLATS - The ingenue's unofficial shoe, now brighter -- and cuter -- than ever.

Photobucket

4. WOODEN WEDGES - A warm-weather staple, they're comfy, cute and wonderfully chunky.

Photobucket

5. TWO-STRAP HEELS - Overly flirty, but somehow completely daytime-appropriate.

Photobucket

6. FLAT ANKLE-STRAP SANDALS - Just like the ones you wore as a kid, only way chicer.

Photobucket

7. ANKLE-STRAP PLATFORMS - A comfortable shoe that gives you major height? We call that a win.

Photobucket

8. T-STRAP SANDALS - Their sexy design makes them your first choice for fancy nights out.

Photobucket

9. BOAT SHOES - The quintessentially preppy style cuts loose in fun Crayola colors.

Photobucket

I am good on the colorful wedges, but I need to get wooden ones. I also have a lot of ballet flats, but I don't have a pair of cap-toes. I want a pair of boat shoes as well. ;)

Do you have any of these Spring shoes?
Which ones do you need/want to get?

Wedding Wednesday: Spring Bouquets

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

I cannot believe I haven't had a Wedding Wednesday post since January!
So, to make up for it (while celebrating the arrival of Spring at the same time), let's take a look at gorgeous Spring bouquets:

1. Roses, ranunculuses, and peonies -

glamorous, classic, spring ballroom Atlanta real wedding

I think a bouquet made of different shades of pink is perfect for a Spring wedding -- it's light and refreshing.
Plus, I think it looks so feminine and beautiful.

2. "Yves Piaget" roses, nerines, dahlias, and anemones

If you like the look of a pink bouquet, but want to make more of a statement, then this is the bouquet for you. :)

3. Purple and lavender anemones, purple hyacinths, lilacs, lavender sweet peas, pink-red hellebores, and wild raspberry -

The thing I love the most about this bouquet is how put-together it looks even though it's made of a million different flowers. ;)

4. Oncidium orchids, Nevada cymbidium, mini cymbidium orchids, and yellow spathaphylum leaves -

Wow, right?!
I think this is perfect for a bride who wants her day to be totally unique -- I've never heard of those flowers before, haha! And you'll totally make a splash with that bright yellow bouquet!

5. Roses, hydrangeas, and delphiniums -

modern, glamorous, spring New York real wedding

This one is a bit more traditional, with just the right amount of greens and blues incorporated into it.

6. Roses and curly willow -

modern, romantic, rustic South Jersey real wedding

The opposite of #3 and #4, this one is so simple yet beautiful -- perfect for a cozy backyard wedding.

Which of these 6 bouquets did you like the most?

Anastasia of Beverly Hills: Lash Genius Waterproof Top Coat

Happy Monday!

Spring is really in the air!
(Although Los Angeles decided to have one last blast of extremely cold weather over the weekend...)

Anyway, one of the things we can look forward to this Spring is the launch of a new product from Anastasia of Beverly Hills: the Lash Genius!

LASH GENIUS WATERPROOF TOP COAT, $21

- waterproof when you want it to be
- lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts
- doesn't clump
- colorless topcoat
- hypoallergenic
- doesn't dry lashes
- waterproofs ANY MASCARA
- doesn't harden mascara

Photobucket

Photobucket

Anastasia of Beverly Hills kindly sent me one Lash Genius to try out for you guys. :)

Photobucket
cool bubble envelope!

Photobucket

My Lash Genius came with this booklet (the pages are shown above).

Photobucket

Directions: Carefully apply one or two coats on top of mascara to waterproof and refresh.
To remove, must use waterproof eye makeup remover.

I think the name is absolutely perfect because the product is a genius idea!
Especially for me -- I constantly have to apply eye drops to make sure my contacts don't dry out -- my mascara needs to be 100% waterproof at all times! And that's exactly what Lash Genius does -- keeps my mascara waterproof. :)

I think it's great that it works with any kind of mascara.
You can even use this for waterproof mascaras (from experience, not all "waterproof" mascaras are actually 100% waterproof :/).

The only problem I had was that I didn't have a waterproof eye makeup remover, haha!
Luckily, my sister has one -- I must get one for myself, though (any suggestions?).

Also, it might be a bit of a challenge taking it off -- it is, after all, waterproof and long-lasting. ;)
You just have to be careful and gentle when taking off your mascara/Lash Genius.

Photobucket

The tube is reasonably sized (Net Wt. 5.5g) -- a little goes a long way.

At $21, I think this is a really good buy and a great investment -- especially if mascara is a big part of your makeup routine.

Available May 2012 at Sephora
Price: $21

What do you think of Anastasia of Beverly Hills' new Lash Genius?
Is this something you would consider buying?

Let Me Gush: Reasons Why I Love Downton Abbey!

Happy Saturday!
(And Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!)

Soooo, I may have mentioned one too many times how much I love Downton Abbey -- this is the last time, I promise (well, at least until Season 3 starts, haha!). ;)

My sister is gonna start watching it this weekend, and I cannot wait to see if she's going to like it as much as I (and millions of other people) did.

So, let me gush... please? ;)

Reasons why I love Downton Abbey:

1. The story -

Masterpiece/BBC Downton Abbey. Its so great! A period piece Grey's Anatomy.

First off, a brief summary:

Downton is the home of the Crawleys, who have been the Earls of Grantham since 1772. In the drawing rooms and library and beautiful bedrooms, with their tall windows looking across the park, lives the family, but below stairs are other residents, the servants, as fiercely possessive of their ranks as anyone above.

Some of them are loyal to the family and are committed to Downton as a way of life, others are moving through, on the lookout for new opportunities or love or just adventure. The difference being that they know so many of the secrets of the family, while the family knows so few of theirs.

The intertwined lives of the Crawleys and their servants are further complicated when the storms of war descend and when these have finally cleared, will the way of life they know have changed forever?

***from www.bbcentertainment.com***

I love how all the characters get their own story lines -- it's not all about the Crawleys, we also get to see the drama surrounding their servants.

They do jump a couple of years ahead in between episodes though, so it can get quite confusing.
But, it's nothing their episode guide on Wikipedia can't help you with. ;)

2. The cast/ characters -

Each actor is absolutely perfect in their respective roles.

And I like how even though the characters are all flawed in their own ways, no one is 100% evil.
They scheme against one another (ahem, Ms. O'Brien and Thomas!), but at the end of the day they're still human -- you can't really hate them completely. ;)

Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham and Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham

Downton Abbey ladies :-)
The Crawley sisters: Lady Edith, Lady Mary, and Lady Sybil

Downton Abbey
Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham

Who doesn't love Dame Maggie Smith?!
Her lines on the show are THE BEST!

Isobel Crawley and Matthew Crawley (the heir presumptive of Downton Abbey)

How dashing does Matthew look in that uniform?!

Downton Abbey
William, Ms. O'Brien, Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Bates, Thomas, and Anna

3. The house -

The house is kind of like a character in itself.

The inside is lavish and beautiful, while the grounds are breathtakingly stunning!

Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey)
Downton Abbey. Can you imagine living here?

4. The clothes -

Their clothes are absolutely gorgeous!!!
I kinda want to raid their closets. ;)

5. The hats

I think we should all start wearing hats... who's with me?! ;)

6. The hair -

Their hairstyles are beautiful!!!

7. Matthew Crawley -

Seriously, did you think he wasn't gonna make the list? ;)

8. Matthew and Mary -

They are sooooo cute together!

downton abbeyDownton Abbey Season 2 finale. Addicted and can't wait for season 3!
best 3 minutes of a show everrrr ;)

I'll end my list here before I bore you guys (haha!).
But yeah, when you get the chance, you should definitely watch Downton Abbey and come back here and gush with me!!! :)

I can't wait 'til Season 3 starts!!!

Are you a Downton Abbey fan?
What do you like the most about it?

Food Network Friday: St. Patrick's Day

Happy Friday! :)

St. Patrick's Day is a big celebration at my high school, and that is why it's always been something to look forward to for me. But because it's been three years since I graduated (Where did the time go???), I haven't had a proper St. Patty's Day celebration in years... soooo, we are making corned beef for dinner tomorrow!

Wouldn't it be fun to have your own little St. Patrick's Day celebration?!
Here are recipes from www.foodnetwork.com to help you get started:

1. Corned Beef and Cabbage

Total Time: 6 hours and 30 minutes
Level: Easy

Corned beef and cabbage is an American St. Patrick's Day favorite.

2. Irish Stew

Irish Stew
Total Time: 3 hours
Level: Intermediate

This comforting stew features tender lamb, hearty carrots, and potatoes -- all topped off with herb butter.

3. Vegetable Shepherd's Pie

Total Time: 1 hour and 6 minutes
Level: Easy

Skip the meat and stuff your shepherd's pie with turnips, carrots, and celery instead.

4. Guinness Float

Total Time: 10 minutes
Level: Easy

Make Baileys Irish Cream and Irish whiskey ice cream to top off this Guinness Float.

5. Chocolate Stout Cupcakes

Total Time: 40 minutes
Level: Easy

The flavor of Guinness melds perfectly with chocolate to make rich, tender cupcakes.
As an added presentation bonus, cream cheese frosting looks like Guinness' iconic foam.

Are you doing anything special to celebrate St. Patrick's Day tomorrow?
Which of these five recipes would you like to try the most?
