Flashback Friday and Music: Iconic TV Show Songs

Happy Friday!!!

I was on Pandora the other day, and I Don't Want To Wait (as in Dawson's Creek!) came on -- I suddenly missed the old TV shows I used to watch with my sister!

One thing I noticed about TV shows of the late 90s/ early 2000s?
They each had really, really good theme songs. I think it's safe to say that these songs are pretty much iconic by now and associated with each respective TV show.

Let's reminisce, shall we?

Dawson's Creek -

I think it's great that they are all still around today -- Katie Holmes is, of course, most well-known as Mrs. Tom Cruise, the ever-so-amazing Michelle Williams is an Academy Award-nominated actress, Joshua Jackson has a successful show in Fringe, and James Van Der Beek is even more handsome today -- have you guys seen the pilot episode of Don't Trust The B---- in Apt. 23? It is hilarious!

Gilmore Girls -

Who didn't want a cool Mom like Lorelai?!
And hello, Melissa McCarthy!!! ;)

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. -

One word: Classic!

The O.C. -

Rachel Bilson still looks the same today -- just with better clothes! ;)
And Adam Brody = the quintessential boy-next-door!

Joan of Arcadia -

This makes me miss high school!
We used to watch Joan of Arcadia episodes for our Religion class.

7th Heaven -

Almost everyone I know had a crush on either Matt or Simon. ;)

When we were kids, my siblings and I used to watch 7th Heaven episodes nonstop during the summer.
*Sigh* I miss those days!

One Tree Hill

I used to watch One Tree Hill, but as school got so busy, I stopped.
And it's just not the same without Chad Michael Murray. :/
But, did you guys watch the series finale?

I had so much fun going through all these TV show songs, and I hope you guys had fun too!

I'm sure there are more songs we can add to this list...
Any other iconic TV show songs you can think of?
Which of these seven songs is now stuck in your head? ;)

Have a happy Easter weekend!!!

Travel: Ten Stunning Destinations

Happy Thursday!!!

I've noticed that we haven't virtually traveled here on What Mimi Writes in a while (since February, to be more specific)... we have to do something about that! ;)

Let's take a trip and visit these ten stunning travel destinations:

1. Tuscany, Italy -

“From Piemonte to Sicilia, each of Italy’s regions has its own magic, but hill-town-studded Tuscany (Toscana)—like the timeless location you’ve seen in Merchant-Ivory films—takes the prize.” -- Patricia Schultz, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die

2. Petra, Jordan -

"It’s perhaps most stunning at dusk, when the ancient city is aglow with thousands of candles."

3. Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile -

“Looking across the lake from the Explora Lodge you see one of the most magnificent mountainscapes in the world.”
-- Peter Friedman, Unique Travel

4. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil -

“Head up to the statue of Christ the Redeemer at Corcovado for a take-your-breath-away view of la Ciudade Maravilhosa (the Marvelous City)." -- Patricia Schultz

5. Midway Island -

“The site of the most decisive naval battle in world history, Midway is where I go to think, to write without interruption. If you’re looking for footprints in the sand, just look behind you, because the only ones are the ones you made.” -- Peter Greenberg, CBS News

6. Bordeaux, France -

"It’s studded with more than 7,000 wineries and bursts with sweeping vineyards, mighty rivers, gorgeous beaches, picturesque villages, and the stunning city itself."

7. Mount Everest, Nepal -

“Mount Everest is perhaps nature’s most magnificent creation – certainly it is the raison d’etre in the climbing world.” -- Geographic Expeditions

8. Fire Island, New York -

"Accessible via ferry, the island is home to 17 resort communities, a massive white-tailed deer population, and extraordinary stretches of sand dune-edged beaches."

9. Plain of Temples, Bagan, Myanmar -

“One of the great sights of Asia, Bagan’s Plain of Temples displays pagoda after pagoda, large and small, rising up from the green delta plain.” -- Geographic Expeditions

10. Okavango Delta, Botswana -

“Explore it by dug-out canoe (makoros), jeep, by foot or on elephant back—a safari here promises birdlife second to none." -- Patricia Schultz

Tuscany, Bordeaux, and Rio de Janeiro have always been on my list, but now I am adding the other seven destinations to my ever-growing list of places to visit. ;)

Have you been to any of these ten places?
Which ones would you like to visit the most?

Beauty Cheat Sheet + CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara

Happy Tuesday!

When I am in a hurry, I narrow down my makeup routine to my essentials: concealer, blush, lip balm, lip gloss, and mascara.

Why are these 5 items my essentials?
Concealer for covering up dark circles and blemishes, blush for some color, lip balm because no one likes dry lips, lip gloss for some shine, and mascara because I find that it really opens up our eyes and makes us look prettier. :)

Apply Mascara So Your Lashes Look Huge:
These tricks work a little like falsies, turning any mascara into a fringe-fattening machine.

I'm really glad I found this Beauty Cheat Sheet -- following these three steps really makes all the difference!

My new favorite mascara: COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara!
(Yes, I really love CoverGirl!)

Designer Spotlight: Temperley London

Happy Monday!

Have you guys ever prepared photos and topics for a blog post, but never get around to actually working on it and posting it? That's what happened to this particular post -- I prepared it way back in January, forgot about it, and just barely saw it now. So, here we go! ;)

I absolutely love Temperley London's designs -- they are beautiful, feminine, and they seem to flatter almost everyone.

“She has a head for business and a heart that appreciates what women really want. Her style is unconstrained and you feel she has no desire to follow the leaders. Accordingly, her creations, which are governed by elegance rather than the fickle demands of trend-setting, are granted a rare longevity.”
-- Susannah Constantine and Trinny Woodall (The Daily Telegraph), on designer Alice Temperley

Busy Philipps wearing the Long Tassle Dress from the S/S 2012 Collection to the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

And of course, probably the most famous lover of all things Temperley London:
none other than HRH Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Just like her older sister, Pippa Middleton is also often photographed wearing clothes from Temperley London:
