How To: Easy Summer Hair

Happy Monday again! :D

My hair is finally growing into the ideal length for me, and I am excited to try new hairstyles!

These past few days, I have been alternating between a bun and a high ponytail because it has been extremely hot! 

But to shake things up a bit, I think I am definitely going to have to give these summer hairstyles a try:

How To: Easy Summer Hair

Pretty, fun, cool, and above all, simple, these perfect summer looks -- created by Bumble and Bumble style guru Jimmy Paul -- each come with a step-by-step tutorial.

1. The Updo -- Tousled and towering, this has a great nonchalant French-film-star air.

IDEAL FOR: Hair with texture -- thick, curly, or color-treated.

IT'S OKAY IF: It turns out a little lopsided. That just adds to the sexy bedhead feel.

2. The Retro Wave -- A waterfall of tumbling waves; so Veronica Lake.

IDEAL FOR: Straight or wavy hair (add beach spray to pump up waves), or curly hair (start with an anti-frizz serum or cream).

FOR EVEN MORE GREAT GATSBY-NESS: Twist finished hair into a low side bun.

3. The Braid Loop -- Like you just walked out of a Botticelli painting.

IDEAL FOR: Long hair.

BUT IF YOU HAVE A BOB: Start the braids above your ears (and toward the sides of your head). 

That way, the braids won't have to reach very far.

4. The Knot -- A sophisticated variation on the classic topknot.

IDEAL FOR: Shoulder-length hair.

IF YOU HAVE FLYAWAY PIECES: Mist them with beach spray to give them a tendril-like feel, or tame them with styling cream.

5. The Side Sweep -- Brushed-out curls and a golden barrette -- so romantic.

IDEAL FOR: Hair that's bob-length or longer, with bangs long enough to pull to the side.

BONUS: This style looks even more ethereal when your hair is slightly frizzy.

I've been quite busy over the weekend, but I did find some time to bake brownies...

IMATS Spotlight: NYX Haul! :)

This week has been pretty uneventful for me, so I thought I'd bring a little cheer and excitement here on my blog by sharing with you guys the stuff I got from NYX at IMATS Los Angeles. :)

I only have these two photos of the NYX booth because I got so excited and busy browsing through their products, haha! But it's okay because I got the stuff I've been wanting/ needing, yay!!! ;)

Let's get on with my NYX haul? :)

I got 6 items, and with the super affordable and special IMATS prices, my total came up to about $17-$18 (sorry, I can't remember the exact price!). Total bargain though, right?! :D

Here are the stuff I got:

- 3 lip liner pencils
- concealer
- cream blush
- lipstick

1. SLIM LIP PENCIL -- Slim, trim but never prim, our lip pencils come in 60 dashing shades — from auburn to orange and traffic-stopping red. The buttery, long-wearing lip liner formula goes on easily and resists bleeding. 
Available in 60 shades.

Price: $3.50

The colors I got are: Pumpkin (852), Hot Red (817), and Bloom (836).

I got Pumpkin to pair with the NYX lipstick I got, Hot Red for my Revlon True Red lipstick, and Bloom for my CoverGirl Blast Flipstick. :)

2. ROUGE CREAM BLUSH -- More delicious than peaches and cream? We like to think so. Our velvety smooth mineral Rouge Cream Blush offers a sheer wash of radiant color. The glorious payoff is dewy, sultry, and long-lasting. Available in 12 shades.

Price: $6.75

I got it in Glow -- I love love love it!
It's creamy and so easy to apply. Plus, it gives me a beautiful, natural-looking glow (yes, Glow makes you glow, haha!). ;)

3. CONCEALER JAR -- Our Concealer Jars are back and ready to hide the villains of dark circles and blemishes stronger than ever! We supply concealers in all shades with an improved formula providing long-lasting full coverage. A moisture-rich, emollient formula designed to conceal discoloration, dark circles, and blemishes. I got it in Beige (CJ04).
I have yet to use it, but Carrie from Read My Life As Carrie got the exact same thing and she is raving about it!
She said it's amazing, so I am super excited to try it out! :)

4. ROUND LIPSTICK -- NYX Round Lipstick is our classic lipstick for all-year round. I'm excited to attend the next IMATS LA because I am gonna be buying more NYX products, haha!
