Royal Wedding Dresses

Happy last day of March!

I've seen all over the web that people are counting down the days until the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The biggest thing that we're anticipating is most probably her wedding gown.

Let's take a look at royal wedding dresses! :D

1. Princess Grace of Monaco -

This is my favorite - she looks so beautiful - classic and timeless. I love the Grace Kelly-inspired wedding dresses that designers like Monique Lhuillier (my favorite!) make.

Princess Grace's dress was made by MGM designer Helen Rose - it was made from 125-year old Valenciennes rose-point lace, silk taffeta, and 98 yards of tulle.

2. Diana, Princess of Wales -

Perhaps the most famous wedding dress of all time!

Made by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, it features 275 yards of pearl-studded taffeta, tulle, and netting, and a 25-foot train.

Did you guys see the article on Yahoo! showing her alternate wedding dress?

3. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden -

She looks absolutely beautiful!

I love how simple and elegant her cream-colored duchess satin Par Engsheden gown is. Her train is 16.5 feet long. And look at that breathtakingly gorgeous gold and pearl Cameo tiara! What makes it more special is the fact that it was the same tiara her mother, Queen Silvia, wore on her wedding day. :)

4. Princess Letizia of Asturias -

The Spanish princess wore an off-white Manuel Pertegaz gown that features a silk veil and an almost 15-foot train. Her diamond and platinum tiara was the same tiara Prince Felipe's mother, Queen Sofia, wore on her wedding day.

5. Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece -

For her 1995 wedding to Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, the Crown Princess wore an ivory silk Valentino gown (made by more than 25 seamstresses!). Her tiara was borrowed from her mother-in-law.

6. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark -

Prince Frederik's bride wore a scoop-neck ivory satin gown created by Uffe Frank. Her veil was the same veil used by Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden for her 1905 wedding.

7. Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway -

She wore a simple and beautiful silk crepe and tulle long-sleeved gown by Ove Harder Finseth. She finished off her look with a 20-foot train and a tiara - a gift from the King and Queen.

8. Princess Maxima of the Netherlands -

Look at that 16.4 feet lace train! Her long-sleeved ivory silk wedding dress was designed by Valentino. She also wore a diamond tiara and a lace veil.

9. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York -

This Lindka Cierach ivory duchess satin gown is not my favorite, but I like how there was a beaded letter "A" (for Prince Andrew) at the bottom of her 17-foot train... although sadly, their marriage didn't last.

10. Queen Rania of Jordan -

The 22-year old bride wore a gold-trimmed short-sleeved Bruce Oldfield gown for her 1993 wedding to Jordan's Prince Abdullah.

11. Crown Princess Masako of Japan -

After wearing traditional Japanese wedding attire, the Crown Princess changed into this more contemporary ivory gown.

I can't stop looking at her tiara and necklace! ;)

Which of these royal wedding dresses did you like the most?

I gave in...

How can you say no to this little guy?

So, yup, I gave in to Twitter.

A lot of my blogger friends have had Twitter accounts for a while, and some have recently made one (Marie@AllThingsMarie and Carrie@ReadMyLifeAsCarrie), so I decided "Why not?" :D

Do you have a Twitter account? Leave your link in a comment, and I'll be sure to follow you. :)

Here is a link to my Twitter account.

Let's take our blog friendship to the next level! ;P

If you want to see the new movie poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, please click here. Seriously, the poster gives me goosebumps, and it makes me really excited and sad at the same time. It really is the end of an era. :/
(Haha, as you can tell, I'm a huge fan!) ;)

I'll be spending the afternoon visiting your blogs as my being sick and school work have prevented me from doing my daily rounds. Regular posts coming back soon! :D

HARRY POTTER! :D

Have you seen the new poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2?

I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!

But, sad at the same time!

In the meantime, we have the DVD for Part 1 to look forward to -- it comes out in April. :D

It's officially Spring, but somehow it still feels like Winter, actually it feels more like Winter than it did when it was actually Winter, haha!

Anyways, I've been gone for so long, but now that I am feeling better, I want to get back into my normal routine by going through my blog photos and going from there. :) I found, yet again, that I have a lot of photos to be used for blog posts, and quite a few beauty products I meant to review. L'Bri Daily Moisturizing Hand & Body Lotion

Hey, guys!

I am feeling much better, and thank you for all your sweet comments and advice on how to get healthy! :)

To get back into the swing of things here on my blog, I thought I'd start with the last of my L'Bri products (so I can move on to other products I have to review). :D

L'Bri Daily Moisturizing Hand & Body Lotion

This complete treatment for hands and body heals, protects, and repairs. Over 40 ingredients work to form a protective shield that reduces moisture loss. Quickly absorbed and never greasy, this lotion helps to heal cracked, peeling, and sensitive skin.

Photobucket

2oz. $5.50, 8oz. $13.25, 16oz. $26.25

This daily moisturizing lotion has been formulated with an abundant supply of vitamins, natural botanicals, and Alpha Hydroxy Acids which work together to promote moisture retention and elasticity to help ward off dryness and wrinkling. Absorbs quickly without leaving an oily residue. Will soothe, nourish, and protect your skin for maximum softness. Use after bath, tanning, sun and wind exposure - anytime your skin thirsts for moisture.

Directions: Apply daily over entire body to condition and hydrate skin. Works well on problem areas like elbows and feet.

I think the descriptions above accurately describe everything this lotion does. It's delicate on the skin, very light - not greasy. I know it's technically a "hand and body" lotion, but I also used a small amount on my face and neck when I ran out of face cream, and it worked pretty well. I wouldn't use it as a permanent face cream, but it's good with dry spots. And it's all-natural so I didn't break out. :)

The bad thing about it is the size and price. If you intend to use it for your whole body daily, it won't really last you long. And as with the body wash, the price is definitely higher than more well-known brands that offer sizes way bigger than these for lower prices.

It's a good lotion, and I wish it was a little more affordable because I have to admit, if I didn't get it from a generous giveaway, I probably won't even think about buying it.

Have you tried this lotion? Is this something you might want to try?

Rainy Sunday...

Hi, everyone!

How is your weekend going?

We are having a rainy Sunday here in L.A. It's raining really, really hard --- there's a mini flood by our front steps, and the flowers the gardeners just planted were all washed away by the rain. :/

Another thing the weather isn't helping is me --- my colds and mild fever have escalated into full-on fever and coughing! :/

By the way, thank you so much for your comments on my last post! And I am following the advice you gave me about how to fight this colds/cough/fever. :)

Good thing it's Harry Potter Weekend on ABC Family, haha! ;)

I also made a Polyvore on what I wore to school this past Thursday.
Did you guys wear green on St. Patty's Day?

St. Patty's Day

I wasn't feeling well, so I went for something comfy. :)

I should get back to bed and rest a bit more. I can't wait to be all better again so I can spend more time here on Blogger. I've missed so many days now! :/

Thanks for stopping by! Have a healthy week! :D

I can't think of a title...

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

How is your week going?

I hope you are all being healthy. I am a little sick today - probably because of the change in weather - it gets really hot in the day, then chilly at night. And, it's also probably because my sister is sick, and she brought home the cold virus. :/

Good thing I already worked on my Math homework over the weekend, I just had to finish answering 2 or 3 questions. :)

I still have to study for my Psych test tomorrow. :/

And I have tons of English reading to do...

I was hoping to spend some time blog hopping today, but I took my older sister's advice and slept for a couple of hours. It works! :D I am feeling a lot better, but I also have to be careful - I don't want to get sick again. :)

I will be back with regular posts on Friday!

Have a great rest of the week!

Oooh, and Happy St. Patty's Day tomorrow!
Are you going to wear something green?

Damn You, Autocorrect!

Hello, everyone!

First off, thank you for all the greetings and congratulations for What Mimi Writes' first year! :D

Second, if you live here in the United States, how are you adjusting to us losing an hour?
I love that it means we are this much closer to Spring, but I hate that time goes by faster - I'm surfing the internet, then next thing I know it's almost 8?!

Anyway, I was on http://www.damnyouautocorrect.com/, and I found tons of funny texts-gone-wrong because of autocorrect. Everytime I send a text, I re-read it first, but I must say autocorrect got me plenty of times!

Here are some of the funny stuff I found on Damn You, Autocorrect:

***some may be vulgar and offensive***

Any funny "Damn You, Autocorrect" stories? ;)

Have a great week! :D

What Mimi Writes is 1!!! :D

Happy Thursday, everyone!

This post is extra-special because What Mimi Writes turns one year old today! :D

One year. Two hundred and thirty-two posts. Eight hundred and forty-one new friends.

It's an amazing feeling. :D

I just read my very first blog post, and I couldn't stop laughing!
I didn't care about punctuation and capitalization. My spacing was all wrong. The font color is weird.

But, the amazing thing is seeing how I've grown from being a reluctant blogger to being a blogger who really, truly enjoys making posts and reading other bloggers' posts.

I really can't remember what I did with my spare time before I started What Mimi Writes. Another thing that's changed is I now take pictures! My iPhone camera roll used to have a measly 10 pictures. Now? A whopping 502! :D

It's mind-boggling how much I've learned through this blog, and of course, how much I've learned from all of you. :)

Thank you for making What Mimi Writes' first year a fantastic and fruitful one!

Here's to many more years with all of you!
:D

Love,
Mimi :)

Happy Wednesday! :)

Happy Wednesday!

Today is Ash Wednesday, and almost everyone I know is giving up something for Lent. Some of my friends are giving up Facebook, some are giving up Starbucks, and some are even giving up saying the F word. What about you, are you giving something up for Lent?

I've been thinking long and hard of what I'm going to give up for Lent... I want it to be something really meaningful. So, besides giving up shopping (unless it's free shopping, of course, *wink*), I will try to be more positive about life, I want to be a happier person, I want to be more at peace with myself and with life. I know that's not always easy, but I will really try, so please wish me luck! :D

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony".

------------------------------------------------------

The other day, my friend (who goes to school in a different state) called and asked me where she can buy some furniture and home decor for her apartment. I told her to check out Crate&Barrel... whooops, that was the wrong thing to say because after all she is on a budget, haha. ;) So, then I said, "Um, hello, Ikea!". Nope, still the wrong thing to say because she said there is no Ikea where she lives (bummer, huh?) and she doesn't really have time to drive out to wherever there is one. I was racking my brain thinking of where she can look, when suddenly I came up with the perfect answer:

*come on, say it with me, I know you know what I'm about to say*....

CSN. ;)

I went ahead and looked for some stuff for her, and oh boy, did I find a lot. But, I had to narrow it down to what was really on her list.

Since her roommate just bought a new LCD TV for their apartment, I thought they might need to look at some LCD TV stands.

Ipanema 54'' modern TV stand, $649

I saw another one that I liked better, though.

36'' modern TV stand in Wenge, $799

I think this one will suit their apartment better since it's smaller and more sleek.

They also wanted to buy a new couch, but living room sets can be really pricey. Isn't it more practical for them to just buy a loveseat and maybe some arm chairs?

Calcutta loveseat in chocolate, $379

And of course, they need a nice coffee table.

antique walnut coffee table, $99.99

Another thing on my friend's list is a wall clock. She said that she hates not having a clock in their kitchen, especially when she's running late!

14'' classic black atomic wall clock, $34.99

That might be a little too pricey for a wall clock, though. But, I think it's nice.

Anyway, those are the ones she and her roommate will share the expenses for. She also has a separate list for her room. It's such a long one, so I chose to just share two of the things I showed her that she absolutely loved. ;)

Mod dot nursery lamp, $27

And,

Courtyard indoor/outdoor rug (price varies according to size)

I always knew it's fun to shop for yourself, but it's also so much fun to shop for someone else, especially because you don't have to think about actually shelling out the money. ;)

I hope you all have a fantastic rest of the week!

Good luck to everyone who is giving up something for Lent!
