Beauty Watch: Get Sexy Eyes Now

Happy Saturday, everyone! :D

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

And I hope all the Moms out there are having the best weekend ever because after all it should be all about them. :)

----------------------------------------------

Some of you may remember from some of my older posts how frustrated I am when it comes to eye makeup - specifically eyeshadow. I don't know, I just can't get it right, but I know one day, I'll get it! I can now apply mascara better than before... eyeliner and eyeshadow, you're next! ;)

If like me, you still need practice with eye makeup, I hope these tips from pro makeup artists help you. For those of you who are really good with eye makeup, let us know if these tricks work for you. :)

Photobucket

Lash Curler - gently curling bare lashes will give them a "beautiful curve"

Eyeliner - to add depth to your look, apply liner to your inner lashline

Shadow - keep lashes the main focus with neutral tones, which blend easily into skin

Highlighter - as a finishing touch, apply on lower lid to make lashes pop

Pointed Tips - use to separate clumpy lashes and spot treat mistakes

Do you have any tips and tricks to add to these?

I've also always wanted to wear falsies, but I have no idea how to put them on and such.

Here are some tips from Kim Kardashian's makeup artist, Joyce Bonelli:

- Short individual lashes give the eye a "feathery, yet natural look". Apply where lashes are sparse, beginning at the inner corner of the eye.

- Tilt your head up while looking into the mirror to expose the top of your lashline and blend falsies in naturally.

- Don't apply mascara to lashes before your falsies are in place. Once lashes are in place, apply mascara sparingly.

Do you wear falsies? Any other tips?

Beyonce

Cameron Diaz

Diane Kruger

I love her makeup and her hair! :D

Kristen Stewart

Mila Kunis

Natalie Portman

Victoria Beckham

And the queen of smoky eyes...

Jennifer Lopez

Whose look did you like the best?

I wish all the wonderful Moms and Moms-to-be (and all those who are just like Moms to their siblings, nieces and nephews, step-children, or their friends' children) a

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! :D

  8. I really like Beyonce's look! I'm still a makeup novice but I do have one thing to share - I really like Urban Decay's Primer Potion - it keeps everything in place without smudging or raccoon eyes.

  9. J Lo smoking eyes are stunning!
I'll try to follow your suggestions 'cause I am a total mess when it comes to make up.

  10. I definitely want to get better at eye makeup especially eyeshadow but also eyeliner. The celeb pictures are cool. It reminded me of how much I love the purple dress Anne Hathaway wore in that picture.

  11. The smoky eye looks hellish on me, but I've just started wearing false eyelashes on nights out which make the world of difference :)

  13. I love doing eye makeup! These tips are great. Mila Kunis and J.Lo are my eye makeup crushes, haha!

I have a few tips that I've stolen from department store artists when I buy makeup:
Layer eye shadow colour. I like my eyes to be my makeup focus, so I do a base of Clinique Like Mink shadow (taupe all over the eye, light brown on the lid) and finish off with darker MAC grey or brown on the eyelid. (I find MAC has really great shades that have staying power, though I've used other brands and I couldn't say a bad word about any of them) Then I put a pinky colour in my crease and above the lid. I finish off with a dusting of a dark brown on the outer end of my lid. The colours blend well together and you can apply less or more for daytime/nighttime plans.
As for eyeliner, I tend to do a heavy application to my upper lashline with a much lighter line on my lower lashes just to make it a little more even looking. I use Dior waterproof eyeliner in deep brown (I ask for it at Christmas, it's a little more expensive but it has lasted me for 18 months before and I use it daily!)
Eyelash curlers are amazing - I hold mine on my lashes for thirty seconds, then pump it up and down for some strange reason, then release and layer on mascara.
Oh yeah, before I put anything on my eyes I put the tiniest bit of foundation if I'm going to wear it on my lids. A MAC lady once told me that it helps keep the eyeshadow in place once it's on. The same lady also told me to put makeup powder on my eyes like I would my face (after foundation or without foundation) as it makes mascara look better. I haven't a clue if that's true, but I do it.
For falsies (my friends call me the falsie putter-onner for events) I do the eyes completely before putting on the lashes. Even the mascara, maybe even a little more than usual because it'd be a nighttime look. Then the lashes are something extra. I don't add mascara after they're on, but that's primarily because we're mega cheap and reuse our fake lashes.

I apologise for this super duper long comment, but I love, love doing eye makeup. Every time I buy a new department store makeup product, I ask the salesperson for a different tip. :)

  15. oh i have such issues with eye shadow too. it's really difficult to show up in photos so i must be doing something wrong.

  16. J Lo - the Queen of the Smoky eye- so true. And she gets it perfect everytime. I cheat a bit by just curling my lashes and leaving them!

  17. So lovely! I always feel like I'm wearing way too much makeup when I try to work the smokey eye thing. Maybe I should just try some lighter eye shadows...

  18. lovely pics, I wear falsies only in pictures when I do make up looks for my blog haha, otherwise they're a hassle and you risk the glue coming off and your eyelashes coming off when you go out!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Great tips! and I love falsies, I always use them when I go out. my tip is to get the ones from drugstores and instead of getting the really long ones, get the really thick ones!

  20. These are pretty good tips! Thx for sharing!

If you want too apply false lashes the best advice I can give you besides practicing, is to apply the lashes with tweezers, I think it gives you more control over where you’re placing them at. Also, instead of applying full set of lashes, try demi lashes 1st (half lashes) there are truly easier to apply. Hope this helps you good luck.

  21. I love smokey eyes, they look so great :) I have never been able to pull them off though!

  22. I am kind of obsessed with eye makeup. I cna't for the life of me apply it very well, but I'm obsessed with looking at photos of eyes and wishing I could duplicate the look.

In other words, this post was like porn to me.

I have never worn falsies but I am determined to try one day. I am in love with a certain pair that has glitter on them. Do you know what I mean?

I also have been trying to perfect a smoky eye for a long time now, but I keep looking like I have black eyes. It's very sad.

    Awesome post! xoxo

  31. =O I'm not that good with makeup either!!!!!!! SPECIALLY SHADOWSS!!!! they are wayyyy soo hard and complicated!!!><... I actually did a simple neutral look on my blog recently to show u guys how bad I was!!!lol welll I guess it turned out ok when I close my eyes but once I open my eyes u can't even see any shadows anymoree!! grrrrr soo complicated!!!..... btw.. I found that using a heated lash curler is great to remove/reduce some mascara clumps but then I would have to reapply some more to add extra length but I love it =] length and volume!! =]

  32. ThisIsAlx-- you and me both! i am not good with eyeshadow! and that heated lash curler sounds interesting! :)

  33. I like all photos. I've been quite surprised to see Victoria Beckham looking really odd. Nevertheless I would pick Diane Kruger's photo as favourite- it appears like she did every line perfectly. Though I cannot say the same for myself :/ Love your blog and hope to read many other interesting things :)
