A Walk to Remember

before Nicholas Sparks' Dear John and The Last Song were made into movies, there was A Walk to Remember.

the book's original cover

i have to admit, i watched the movie before i read the book. i was only 12 years old when the movie came out, and even though i absolutely love to read, somehow this book didn't catch my attention... at first. but now, the book and the movie are both on my favorites list.
the book is classic Nicholas Sparks. that usual love story that most of us love. it is well-written, touching, and, inspiring. definitely has that awwwww factor. :)
among all his books, in my opinion, this one has a lasting effect (just like The Notebook). after all, who doesn't want to find true love at a young age, and one that will last through the years?

the movie came out in 2002

the movie is not Oscar-worthy, yes; but it is a pretty good movie, especially for hopeless romantics out there.

the story is about Landon Carter (Shane West), the rich and rebellious son of a doctor (in the movie)/ a Congressman (in the book) who falls in love with Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore), the religious and plain daughter of a minister. it's the classic story of the popular high school guy falling for the least popular girl in school-- on a deeper level though. Landon learns about life and love from Jamie, and he, in return, makes her "life-list" come true. and just when they're finally together and happy, Jamie tells Landon that she has leukemia.

i think we all probably know where the story will go from there. of course, he's gonna be by her side through her illness, they're gonna get married, and they're going to make the most out of their time together. :)

asking Jamie to marry him

the things that probably stuck with viewers from this movie is Jamie's "life-list", the star Landon bought in her name, and the awwww-inducing quotes they said.
now, who doesn't want to stand in two places at once? :)
*i actually did, btw!!! Louisiana and Mississippi! :D*

  2. I did like this movie. It was not the stereotypical bubblegum love story which I very much appreciated. It was a raw love story which makes it a Nicholas Sparks classic.:D

Mandy Moore did a very good acting job here, I did not see the popstar she was but as Jaime Sullivan.:D

    Have a lovely weekend!:D
