2011 SAG Awards

Happy last Monday of the month!

Last night, the 2011 SAG Awards was held here in Los Angeles. While it wasn't as star-studded as the Golden Globes, a lot of celebrities still showed up - let's see what they wore! :)

Mila Kunis - Alexander McQueen dress and Cartier bracelet

I think she looked beautiful! It was a totally different look from her Golden Globes one, and she pulled it off.

Natalie Portman - Azzaro column gown and $2 million worth of Tiffany jewels

I like this look better than her Golden Globes one. I like how the dress hugs her baby bump. And those yellow diamond earrings? To die for! Her hair kind of looks weird from the front, though. But, whatever, she looks beautiful and happy. :)

Tina Fey - Oscar de la Renta dress

One of the funniest people alive! She looks red carpet perfect! :D

Jennifer Lawrence - Oscar de la Renta gown and Judith Lieber clutch

Beautiful color! And I love how well the black goes with the hot pink.

Amy Adams - ribbed Herve Leroux halter, Kimberly McDonald earrings, and sleek ponytail

I love Amy Adams! She is always so beautiful! Her sleek, high ponytail is simple and stunning at the same time.

Angie Harmon - feathered Monique Lhuillier dress

I don't know if I've ever seen a Monique Lhuillier creation that I didn't like. This dress is beautiful, and it looks great on Angie Harmon. But what's up with her roots?

Helena Bonham Carter - lace cocktail Marc Jacobs frock and matching shoes! ;)

Yay, she looks good! Even if her hair and sunglasses still look weird, I think she looks great. And I love what she said about knowing that she won't make it to the best dressed anyway, so she might as well make it to the worst. ;)

Heather Morris - nude Romona Keveza gown

Absolutely beautiful and elegant - perfect! I love how Heather Morris is starting to get noticed. She is one talented girl!

Lea Michele - Oscar de la Renta dress

I've read good comments on Lea Michele's look, but I don't like it very much. While she was walking the red carpet, I was scared that any moment she would have a wardrobe malfunction.

Dianna Agron - Chanel dress

Not the best choice. The dress just looks too matronly for her and her hair is kind of weird. She said she wanted the short length so she won't have to worry about someone stepping on her dress, but come on, the hem line and the length are just awkward!

Whose look did you like the best? Whose did you not like at all?

Travel Destination: Puerto Rico

Happy Friday!

Let's go somewhere for the weekend! How does Puerto Rico sound to you? :)

On my last Travel Destination post, fellow blogger, SiSi requested that we go to Puerto Rico, so here we are!

I've actually never been there, so I am going along information I read online. If you've been there, please share with us by leaving a comment! :D

Okay... let's go!

El Morro in Old San Juan:

Garita at fort San Felipe del Morro:

They have really beautiful beaches:

Corcho Beach in Vieques:

Isn't the water gorgeous?

Puerto Plata:

We can also go to Puerto Rico's rainforests and see such natural beauty as this waterfall:

Just a few of the activities we can do:

boating

whale watching

We can also visit historical places like the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista:

Okay, now, what about food?!

Puerto Rico's cuisine is known as Cocina Criolla - African, Amerindian, and Spanish influences.

Alcapurrias - mixture of yautia, ground squash, plantains, green banana, filled with ground meat or seafood and deep fried in oil

Does anyone know what the name of this dish is?

What about this one?

This next one is Mofongo - made from fried green plantains or fried yuca, seasoned with garlic, olive oil, and pork cracklings... usually served with fried meat and chicken broth soup.

Plantain "araƱitas" and "tostones rellenos"... looks really yummy!

So, that's about it for our little trip to Puerto Rico. I'm sure I missed tons of spots to go to, places to shop at, activities to do, and food to eat, etc. Please feel free to share!

What other spots should we visit? What else should we do while in Puerto Rico?

*If you have a travel destination request, please tell me in your comment! :D*

East vs. West: What's your style?

Hi, everyone! :D

When we say East vs. West, these are the things that come to my mind:

Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers, New York City vs. Los Angeles, Gossip Girl vs. 90210, The City vs. The Hills...

What comes to your mind? What about when it comes to style?

Check out this spread from Teen Vogue that explores the differences between East coast and West coast style:

Photobucket

I went on www.hm.com to try out their Fashion Studio application and made three East coast ensembles and three West coast outfits. :D

East:

1. New Yorkers' ensembles are devised to carry us from work to play.

2. The city's style is made up of Wall Street business, punk, prep, and ladylike elegance.

3. NYC Chic is effortless and off-the-cuff, with enough layers to face the fickle elements.

West:

1. The California boho look is all about styling yourself by instinct rather than trends.

2. There's less emphasis on appearing immaculate - undone hair and makeup can look amazing.

3. ... isn't afraid to look playful and different, and it works in her favor.

Since I live in Los Angeles, I think my style tends to lean more towards the West coast style, of course. But I also like to add a bit of East coast flair - especially during Winter. :)

L'Bri Rejuvenating Facial Peel

Happy Tuesday! :D

On yesterday's post, I mentioned the L'Bri giveaway I won from Emy's blog a few months ago.

*click the link to see my 127 Hours, Black Swan, and The King's Speech review*

Here is the first product I am going to review:

L'Bri Rejuvenating Facial Peel

Photobucket

This unique exfoliator, made with natural fruit enzymes of green papaya, calming pineapple and stabilized aloe vera gel, works to dissolve dead skin cells without acids. Helps to dramatically improve skin tone, clarity and texture for a healthy, vibrant complexion. Excellent for all skin types including those with rosacea, sensitive and acne prone skin. (2oz., $35.50)

It smells good - with the green papaya and pineapple, it reminds me of a fruit-type dessert. And it looks like jelly!

Photobucket

Directions: Apply a thin layer of the Facial Peel to clean, dry skin over the entire face (avoid eyes) with circular upward and outward motions. Allow peel to sit for 20 to 30 seconds. Continue working the peel into the skin with circular motions and you will begin to see and feel the dead skin cells being lifted away. Once sloughing stops, rinse with warm water, pat dry. Can be used up to four times a week.

I love this peel - it's really amazing! You can see and feel the dead skin falling off your face. I know, sorry, that sounds gross, haha. ;) But really, I suggest scrubbing your face over the sink because otherwise the dead skin might fall on the floor or something.

After using this (along with toner and moisturizer), my skin feels clean, soft, and smooth. This is one of the facial peels that I was really impressed with.

The price may be a little high. At $35.50, I'm not sure if I would've bought this if I didn't get it from a very generous giveaway. But it's really good, so I just might shell out $35.50 to get a new one once I finish the one I have. And the good thing about it is a little comes a long way. :)

Have you tried this facial peel? What did you think of it? Is it something you would like to try?

Movie Monday :D

Happy Monday, everyone!

We are now on the last week of the first month of 2011. Wow. :O

This post's title is Movie Monday because I just recently saw three much talked about movies:

127 Hours -

Haha, I know, I tend to see movies later than most. ;)

Anyways, James Franco was really really good! He actually reminded me a bit of Tom Hanks in Castaway. Aron Ralston's story is such an amazing one - after I got over the whole "Why didn't you tell anyone where you were going?!" part. It really is "a triumphant true story". A triumph of my own? I was able to live through the arm cutting scene. Haha. ;P

Black Swan -

Okay, now this movie... it was good and intense, but also dark and kind of weird. I'm glad I saw it, but I don't know if I'm all for watching it again. That being said, I thought Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis were perfect for their respective roles.

The King's Speech -

It was a beautiful story. The actors were all amazing. Colin Firth was absolutely brilliant! I'm really hoping he wins an Academy Award - he deserves it. :D Geoffrey Rush was amazing too. And it was so good to see Helena Bonham Carter playing a good character - a nice rest from being Bellatrix Lestrange and the Red Queen.

Have you seen these movies? What did you think of them?

A few months ago, fellow blogger Emy informed me that I won her L'Bri giveaway. I promised her a review, and after months of using the four products I got, I am now ready to make my reviews. Watch out for them in the coming days! :D

Song: Wild Horses

It's Saturday once again... doesn't it seem like this week went by faster than last week? It's probably because we had Monday off. ;)

I saw The Social Network last night, and I have to say it was a really good movie. I totally see why it won Best Picture at the Golden Globes. Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield were amazing. And, yes, even Justin Timberlake did a good job. I'd love to see them win big at the Oscars too. :)

Now, about this song I'm going to share with you guys... I first heard it when my friend played it as her song for our retreat when we were high school seniors (that was a little over 2 years ago). I just heard it again when I put my iPod on shuffle, and it's been stuck in my head.

Wild Horses - Natasha Bedingfield

**sorry about the video, it was the best I could find**

I feel these 4 walls closing in
My face up against the glass
I'm looking out... hmm
Is this my life I'm wondering
It happened so fast
How do I turn this thing around
Is this the bed I chose to make
Its greener pastures I'm thinking about hmm
Wide open spaces far away

All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear, but not feel scared

[Chorus:]
Wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind
I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like I'm longing to
I want to run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses
Oh yeah yeah

I see the girl I wanna be
Riding bare back, care free along the shore
If only that someone was me
Jumping head first headlong without a thought
To act and damn the consequence
How I wish it could be that easy
But fear surrounds me like a fence
I wanna break free

All I want is the wind in my hair
To face the fear but, not feel scared
Hoohhh woah woah

[Chorus:]
Wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind
I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like I'm longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses
Oh yeah yeah

I wanna run too.
Hohhh woah oh woah oh

Breaklessly abandoning myself before you

I wanna open up my heart tell him how I feel

[Chorus:]
Wild horses I wanna be like you
Throwing caution to the wind
I'll run free too
Wish I could recklessly love, like I'm longing to
I wanna run with the wild horses, run with the wild horses
Hooaah woah oh woah
Yeah

I wanna run with the wild horses

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! :D

American Idol Season 10 :)

Happy Thursday!

Were you able to watch the season 11 premiere of American Idol last night?

I know most people are a bit skeptical about whether or not American Idol can still stay on air -- Simon left, Ellen being a judge didn't work out too well, Kara left too, and I have to admit, last season wasn't all that great. But, it seems like this new season will be better.

It does feel weird to not have Simon and his snarky comments. The show is more light-hearted, easy going, and fun. I think the new judges, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, are good choices to go along with American Idol veterans Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest.
It's fun to watch Jennifer Lopez slowly learning how to say no. And, watch out for Steven Tyler's facial expressions and reactions. ;)

Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler know what they are talking about, not like Ellen (I love her, but really, she seemed so lost last season).

I've read that ratings went down, but I'm really hoping that this season won't disappoint.

Another thing that I will be looking forward to (besides the changes in the show) is Jennifer's outfits and looks, of course! She looks so beautiful and her clothes, accessories, and makeup are perfect!

I think by the end of this season, I will definitely make a post on Jennifer's American Idol outfits. :D

If you haven't seen them, I hope you check out my previous posts:

I hope you had or are having a good Thursday! :D

Wedding: Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

If you like to watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians, then you most probably saw the episode featuring Khloe Kardashian's wedding to L.A. Laker Lamar Odom.

Everyone was skeptical about this whole thing because after all they've only been dating for a month. But I think it's good that Khloe and Lamar seem to be going strong. Have you heard about their own spin-off show, Khloe & Lamar?

Their wedding was held on September 27, 2009.

Khloe wore a custom made Vera Wang wedding dress.

Her dress was simple and pretty. I like the purple sash's detail. I wish she did something more with her hair, though. What do you think?

Her bouquet was a combination of roses, stephanotis, and lilies of the valley.

Kim (a bridesmaid) and Kourtney (maid of honor) wore lavender/purple Vera Wang dresses.

Their dresses were nice and simple.

After the ceremony, they headed to the tent-covered tennis court for their night club themed reception. The room had white carpets, silver mirrors, and chandeliers.

They danced their first dance to Anita Baker's Angel.

Other wedding details:

The cake - a five-tiered chocolate butter cream cake

For their wedding favors, they gave away purple and yellow cupcakes.

The invitation:

What do you think of Khloe and Lamar's wedding?
